If Sakis Dimatos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Makis Theodorakos came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Pyrus fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Makis Theodorakos couldn't finish the play. If Sakis Dimatos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sakis Dimatos struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Alkaios Koufos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rizario. With an all-out effort, Pyrus's Tolis Kostakis threw himself towards the right post 31 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Apostolikas Mamais, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Makis Theodorakos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tolis Kostakis having to interfere. After 40 minutes, Iason Chatzipetrou mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rizario and the Pyrus players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 40th minute, Iason Chatzipetrou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the match, Pyrus's Apostolikas Mamais sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tolis Kostakis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Pyrus's Alkaios Koufos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sakis Dimatos in the 52nd minute of play. Tolis Kostakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Makis Theodorakos in the 56th minute of play. 61 minutes into the match, Makis Theodorakos notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Rizario's Tolis Kostakis. Tolis Kostakis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Makis Theodorakos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tolis Kostakis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rizario's zone, Makis Theodorakos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tolis Kostakis came out of the goal and Makis Theodorakos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th minute of the match Iason Chatziantonis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tolis Kostakis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Menios Stergiadis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tolis Kostakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Apostolikas Mamais, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Makis Theodorakos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pyrus's supporters rose to their feet, but Makis Theodorakos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tolis Kostakis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Apostolikas Mamais fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tolis Kostakis having to interfere.
