To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 16 minutes into the match, Nilosvaara's goal looked a bit too open when Miro Nurmi came free, but Jalmari Grahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jalmari Grahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miro Nurmi in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 32 minutes, Ari Eloranta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nilosvaara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ari Eloranta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jalmari Grahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miro Nurmi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ari Eloranta in the 55th minute of play forced Kuokkala's goalkeeper Kristian Hämäläinen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paavo Lepistö hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 58th minute by Petteri Jämsänen got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. With a little luck, Nilosvaara's Jalmari Grahn got control of the ball when Petteri Jämsänen tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Miro Nurmi came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Kuokkala fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miro Nurmi couldn't finish the play. Miro Nurmi might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jalmari Grahn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miro Nurmi ran back to his position shaking his head. Paavo Lepistö hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Jouko Kortelainen was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 73rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Kristian Hämäläinen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ari Eloranta in the 80th minute of the match.
