The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jonni Kahra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jani Kallio, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reko Kopola got free with Jonni Kahra in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jani Kallio struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Jonni Kahra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kärpät. 10 minutes into the match, Sosiaalinen pelko's goal looked a bit too open when Jani Kallio came free, but Jonni Kahra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kalevi Perälä recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 26 played minutes Sosiaalinen pelko got a freekick which was hit by Jukka-Pekka Rantala. 31 minutes into the match, Kärpät's goal looked a bit too open when Kalevi Perälä came free, but Tony Salonen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Kalevi Perälä notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Kärpät's Tony Salonen. Tony Salonen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sosiaalinen pelko's Jonni Kahra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jani Kallio in the 44th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kalevi Perälä was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Sosiaalinen pelko's goal looked a bit too open when Jani Kallio came free, but Jonni Kahra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ismo Kousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Salonen having to interfere. Urmas Joenväärä received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Tony Salonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute Kalevi Perälä shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Salonen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonni Kahra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jani Kallio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonni Kahra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reko Kopola in the 80th minute of play. Reko Kopola's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonni Kahra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jani Kallio in the 86th minute of play forced Sosiaalinen pelko's goalkeeper Jonni Kahra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Mauno Pelttari fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sosiaalinen pelko's protests and gave Mauno Pelttari a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Kärpät booed when Sosiaalinen pelko was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauno Pelttari didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sosiaalinen pelko eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
