The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Piltola FC's Yrjö Naskali got a free kick in the 4th minute. Jussi Vuorio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 12 minutes into the game, Östrabyugo IFK's Otso Snellman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Turo Piekkanen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 25th minute Jussi Vuorio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Turo Piekkanen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Turo Piekkanen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jussi Vuorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ismo Hakanen charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ismo Hakanen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Piltola FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Ismo Hakanen hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jussi Vuorio in the 33rd minute of play forced Piltola FC's goalkeeper Turo Piekkanen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Piltola FC's goal looked a bit too open when Voitto Toivanen came free, but Turo Piekkanen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 37 minutes, Ismo Hakanen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piltola FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ismo Hakanen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Voitto Toivanen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Turo Piekkanen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Piltola FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jussi Vuorio came free, but Turo Piekkanen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 42 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Piltola FC! Antero Ollonen placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ismo Hakanen to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 54 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Voitto Toivanen sped through Piltola FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Turo Piekkanen. When Jari Salmelainen fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piltola FC's protests and gave Jari Salmelainen a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Piltola FC's Jari Salmelainen got a free kick in the 58th minute. Armas Heinikallio charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Turo Piekkanen made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Jussi Vuorio sent off a good shot on target. Pertti Huuhtanen hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Piltola FC's Armas Heinikallio tried to score from far away in the 86th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Jussi Vuorio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Turo Piekkanen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Voitto Raisanen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pellervo Heinikallio was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Jussi Vuorio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Turo Piekkanen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Östrabyugo IFK left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Piltola FC.
