Marko Mäntylä's late challenge caught a Mätäsvaara IFK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marko Mäntylä helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Akkala FC's Marko Mäntylä got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Jyrki Vento kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rauli Vatanen in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Esa Salmi saved Akkala FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rauli Vatanen in the 17th minute of play forced Akkala FC's goalkeeper Esa Salmi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Rauli Vatanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mätäsvaara IFK's Saku Sanevuori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marko Mäntylä in the 24th minute of play. Saku Sanevuori made an important save on a dangerous shot by Klaus Teräs in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Mätäsvaara IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Marko Mäntylä came free, but Saku Sanevuori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saku Sanevuori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Asko Pihlajamäki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mika Reinikainen kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Mätäsvaara IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Marko Mäntylä came free, but Saku Sanevuori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Akkala FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Asko Pihlajamäki in the 32nd minute. Akkala FC's Asko Pihlajamäki was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Saku Sanevuori in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Saku Sanevuori was a little too slow when Asko Pihlajamäki got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 1-0. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rauli Vatanen made a kick off. Rauli Vatanen in the 53rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Esa Salmi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Saku Sanevuori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Asko Pihlajamäki, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After 58 played minutes Mätäsvaara IFK got a freekick which was hit by Mika Reinikainen. After a defensive mix-up in Mätäsvaara IFK's zone, Marko Mäntylä stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Saku Sanevuori came out of the goal and Marko Mäntylä tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Esa Salmi acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 60th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jani Hannus. Akkala FC's Esa Salmi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Akkala FC from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Rauli Vatanen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mätäsvaara IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Rauli Vatanen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Esa Salmi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 68th match minute, Akkala FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Klaus Teräs to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Akkala FC's Klaus Teräs got a free kick in the 69th minute. In the 70th minute, Rauli Vatanen made a precise shot to the right of Esa Salmi. Akkala FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Esa Salmi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rauli Vatanen went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Esa Salmi came out of the goal in the 76th minute to try and stop a shot by Mätäsvaara IFK's Jani Hannus. But to his dismay, Jani Hannus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Mätäsvaara IFK's Rauli Vatanen got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rauli Vatanen got free with Esa Salmi in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kyösti Rautee kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Arvo Ristolainen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rauli Vatanen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mätäsvaara IFK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
