Cristoforo Mazzocchetti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dragolyub Kanov in the 18th minute of the match. Dragolyub Kanov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristoforo Mazzocchetti having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mavrudi Lichev during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 20 played minutes Dechkovtsu got a freekick which was hit by Mavrudi Lichev. Ignat Geraskov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dechkovtsu were furious when Branislav Altimirski was red carded, 27 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Dechkovtsu fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 26th minute. Penalty! The referee gave B u l g a r a n a penalty, 29 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Svetlan Bonin, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Dechkovtsu's Cristoforo Mazzocchetti. 1-1. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind B u l g a r a n's goalkeeper Boyan Chanev, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zlatko Dushev recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mavrudi Lichev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Boyan Chanev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dragolyub Kanov came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the B u l g a r a n fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dragolyub Kanov couldn't finish the play. When Johnnie Case fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dechkovtsu's protests and gave Johnnie Case a yellow card for diving instead. Johnnie Case hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When Dechkovtsu's Zlatko Dushev in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Boyan Chanev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Mavrudi Lichev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute Zlatko Dushev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Boyan Chanev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Botyo Sudkovski during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, B u l g a r a n's Botyo Sudkovski got a free kick in the 81st minute. If Vladko Nikolov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zlatko Dushev in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Boyan Chanev prevented the ball from getting in the gole. B u l g a r a n's Boyan Chanev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Fedosz in the 87th minute of play. Vladko Nikolov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boyan Chanev having to interfere.
