Kılıçalp Cevar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kuddusî Ulubaş, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Malmö FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kuddusî Ulubaş came free, but Kılıçalp Cevar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Young Boys's goal looked a bit too open when İsrafil Temcit came free, but Önder Polatalp reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Yusuf Ziya Karay blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kılıçalp Cevar having to make a save. Gökcan Ortunc hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Young Boys's zone, Alaaddin Sait stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Önder Polatalp came out of the goal and Alaaddin Sait tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute, Gökcan Ortunc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sancarbey Halıcıoğlu in the 39th minute of play forced Young Boys's goalkeeper Önder Polatalp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 46 minutes, Sinan Torcan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malmö FC and the Young Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. Sinan Torcan kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kuddusî Ulubaş was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Malmö FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. İsrafil Temcit hit a great ball. When Young Boys's Kuddusî Ulubaş in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Kılıçalp Cevar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yusuf Ziya Karay, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. After having played for 61 minutes, Alaaddin Sait managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Malmö FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alaaddin Sait was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Alaaddin Sait came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Malmö FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alaaddin Sait couldn't finish the play. After 66 played minutes, Malmö FC's Abdulbaki Cingöz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Önder Polatalp came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Malmö FC reached it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alaaddin Sait in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Önder Polatalp prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Önder Polatalp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sancarbey Halıcıoğlu, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After 75 played minutes, Malmö FC's Sinan Torcan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Önder Polatalp came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Malmö FC reached it. Alaaddin Sait recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Alaaddin Sait had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Sancarbey Halıcıoğlu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Young Boys's goalkeeper Önder Polatalp, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
