The goalkeeper, Mustafa Ali Özerek, was totally fooled by Cagaloglu's Zeki Öztaylan, who 17 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 96th minute, Tuncay Yürüker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Göktan Özbilir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Cagaloglu had won after a very even match.
