Aktan Akbayrak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Abdi Saygın Özerek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Şaban Saraçoğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aşır Demir made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Atilla Tarkan Okatay in the 9th minute of play. Abdi Saygın Özerek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Volkan Tuner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. J.J Macias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 15 played minutes YeniMalatyaSpor got a freekick which was hit by Ahmet Hakan Balaman. J.J Macias struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Aşır Demir didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bornova. YeniMalatyaSpor's Aşır Demir played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by J.J Macias in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Bornova getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Hilbert Grevsby hit a great ball. Hadi Özdoruk charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hadi Özdoruk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Bornova booed when YeniMalatyaSpor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hadi Özdoruk didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 26 minutes of play, Bornova's J.J Macias made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aşır Demir was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 30th minute, Yağız Elçin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yağız Elçin made in the 32nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Bornova's Ahmet Oğuz Direnç. J.J Macias took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aşır Demir. Aşır Demir dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Abdi Saygın Özerek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Volkan Tuner received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Abdi Saygın Özerek came out and tried to block the shot, but Volkan Tuner slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 45th minute. In the 48th minute, Şaban Saraçoğlu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The wind increased when Şaban Saraçoğlu made the kick off in the second half. Aktan Akbayrak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abdi Saygın Özerek having to interfere. J.J Macias took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aşır Demir. Aşır Demir dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. In the 57th match minute, YeniMalatyaSpor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Volkan Tuner to maneuver through the defense. Aktan Akbayrak took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abdi Saygın Özerek. Abdi Saygın Özerek dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. In the 62nd match minute, Bornova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by J.J Macias to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute Aktan Akbayrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abdi Saygın Özerek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abdi Saygın Özerek came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by YeniMalatyaSpor's Volkan Tuner. But to his dismay, Volkan Tuner quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aktan Akbayrak in the 74th minute of play forced Bornova's goalkeeper Abdi Saygın Özerek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. YeniMalatyaSpor's defense didn't have a chance, in the 76th minute, when Atilla Tarkan Okatay scored to the left of an out of position Aşır Demir, making the score, 3-5. In the 83rd minute, Kryspin Mietus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Aşır Demir managed to avoid a goal in the 90thth minute, when Bornova's J.J Macias fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Bornova eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
