Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ngina Otieno got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute Ngina Otieno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Ochichi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Shaldon AFC booed when Ilkeston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Limo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abdallah Ali Muiruri didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 6th minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Ilkeston's Abdallah Ali Muiruri proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Ilkeston from getting a goal against them. Shaldon AFC's Charles Waheto shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 13th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Abdallah Ali Muiruri but with some difficulty. Philip Kimely Muhoho took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Abdallah Ali Muiruri. Abdallah Ali Muiruri dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Michael Limo hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the game, Shaldon AFC's Duncan Bungei nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Abdallah Ali Muiruri made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. William Odinga's late challenge caught a Shaldon AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. William Odinga helped the player get up and apologised. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Ngina Otieno put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Thomas Ochichi. The Ilkeston fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when Ilkeston's Ngina Otieno looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Abdallah Ali Muiruri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stephen Lel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shaldon AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Charles Waheto in the 44th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The wind increased when Duncan Bungei made the kick off in the second half. Abdallah Ali Muiruri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Duncan Bungei, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 55 minutes into the match, Ilkeston's goal looked a bit too open when Stephen Lel came free, but Abdallah Ali Muiruri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nigel Chacha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ilkeston's Abdallah Ali Muiruri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by James Anush in the 61st minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Stephen Lel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 63 minutes into the game, Ilkeston's Ngina Otieno nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thomas Ochichi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. If James Anush had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ngina Otieno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Ochichi having to interfere. Ilkeston's Abdallah Ali Muiruri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duncan Bungei in the 72nd minute of play. In the 74th minute, James Anush left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shaldon AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. 86 minutes into the match, Ilkeston's goal looked a bit too open when Philip Kimely Muhoho came free, but Abdallah Ali Muiruri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 87 played minutes Ilkeston got a freekick which was hit by Michael Limo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duncan Bungei in the 88th minute of play forced Ilkeston's goalkeeper Abdallah Ali Muiruri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abdallah Ali Muiruri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from James Anush in the 94th minute of play. The Shaldon AFC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
