The supporters of Almaty Stars booed when Thurlaston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kirill Galkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petr Kudryashov struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. David Semagin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Thurlaston. Roman Alontsov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 38 minutes, Roman Alontsov managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thurlaston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roman Alontsov was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andrey Boichenko got free with David Semagin in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42nd minute Vitaliy Zhuravlev shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladislav Shiryaev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 45 minutes, Andrey Boichenko managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thurlaston's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrey Boichenko was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. David Semagin made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Gennadiy Istomin sent off a good shot on target. Vladislav Shiryaev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Silin in the 48th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Vitaliy Zhuravlev made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Roman Alontsov made a precise shot to the right of David Semagin. Almaty Stars's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. The Thurlaston fans' excitement grew in the 58th match minute when Thurlaston's Andrey Boichenko looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Thurlaston's Roman Alontsov got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kirill Galkin might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Semagin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The Thurlaston fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Petr Kudryashov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. David Semagin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David Semagin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Alontsov in the 86th minute of the match. Andrey Boichenko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Semagin having to interfere.
