Leonid Muhin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrey Eremin in the 28th minute of play. If Andrey Eremin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Leonid Muhin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aleksandr Goldshtein. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Netherton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arkadiy Odintsov didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitold Nazarov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Aleksandr Cheremuhin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Borussia Dortmund's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
