Spectators: 6781 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1781, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gurpreet Sengupta in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ansuka Brar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 15 minutes into the match, Ponteland City's goal looked a bit too open when Buddhadatta Vaidya came free, but Ansuka Brar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th match minute, Cottered United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harinder Barmi to maneuver through the defense. Adri Kang didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 22nd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Through an outstanding action, after 28 minutes, Adri Kang successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 39 played minutes, Cottered United's Shankar Gandhi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ansuka Brar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cottered United reached it. 40 minutes into the match, Ponteland City's goal looked a bit too open when Buddhadatta Vaidya came free, but Ansuka Brar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Fakir Pujari made the kick off in the second half. If Buddhadatta Vaidya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gurpreet Sengupta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ansuka Brar having to interfere. Adri Kang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fakir Pujari, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. A very good chance for a goal. Kavibhusana Chawla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Ansuka Brar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hanumant Vishwakarma's late challenge caught a Cottered United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ashwini Tendulkar in the 94th minute of play forced Cottered United's goalkeeper Adri Kang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fakir Pujari had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ponteland City's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
