A collision led to Ha Dong getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Bùi Van Tai Em hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Diem got free with Bùi Phuoc in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bùi Phuoc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Lien in the 14th minute of play. Bùi Phuoc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Diem in the 15th minute. In the 20th minute, Phan Thai ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Đặng Xuan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Trần Cong Vinh blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Đặng Xuan having to make a save. In the 28th minute, Trần Cong Vinh left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cao Xanh FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Nguyễn Diem could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Bùi Phuoc made a huge save. After the first half Cao Xanh FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Trần Cong Vinh made the kick off in the second half. A sloppy throw-in by Lê Chi in the 52nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Cao Xanh FC's Nguyễn Hoai. When Trần Cong Vinh came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Cao Xanh FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trần Cong Vinh couldn't finish the play. Trần Cong Vinh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Xuan having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Diem notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Cao Xanh FC's Bùi Phuoc. Bùi Phuoc was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 97th minute, Trần Cong Vinh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Many of Cao Xanh FC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Cao Xanh FC may have spent more time on the ball, but Ha Dong were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
