Ali Yip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afiq Politiek having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tan Chuan in the 11th minute of play forced Harolld Hill's goalkeeper Afiq Politiek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Newcastle-upon-Tyne's goalkeeper Gara Soon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 17th match minute, Harolld Hill was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel Tan to maneuver through the defense. Afiq Politiek was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Afiq Politiek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Yip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Soon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Gara Soon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Harolld Hill's goal looked a bit too open when Tan Chuan came free, but Afiq Politiek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alex Pieng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Gara Soon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jithu Yang's late challenge caught a Newcastle-upon-Tyne's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jithu Yang helped the player get up and apologised. Jithu Yang kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Afiq Politiek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ali Yip, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Newcastle-upon-Tyne's defense didn't have a chance, in the 47th minute, when Alex Pieng scored to the left of an out of position Gara Soon, making the score, 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ali Yip was the one to do the kick off. With his leg Afiq Politiek managed to avoid a goal in the 53rdth minute, when Newcastle-upon-Tyne's Tan Chuan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Newcastle-upon-Tyne booed when Harolld Hill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danish Soon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute, Tan Chuan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newcastle-upon-Tyne fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. If Tan Chuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. When Faizal Hoe fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newcastle-upon-Tyne's protests and gave Faizal Hoe a yellow card for diving instead. In the 93rd minute, Ali Yip got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tan Chuan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Afiq Politiek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. The Harolld Hill supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Newcastle-upon-Tyne's performance. The match ended with a win for Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
