Edgar Featon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwards Lyle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Bryce Kaine blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rusty Spurr having to make a save. Edgar Featon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Edwards Lyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 16 minutes into the match, Tiger Turnbull had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edwards Lyle. Northcote's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tiger Turnbull was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Edwards Lyle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Featon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 22 minutes, Bryce Kaine managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Northcote's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bryce Kaine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Edgar Featon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

If Martin Byrnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jagger Krause struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Rusty Spurr didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Northcote. In the 59th minute, Bryce Kaine left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Northcote fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 63rdth minute of the game Edgar Featon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Northcote's Edwards Lyle was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arthur Nolan's late challenge caught a Garema's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arthur Nolan helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Northcote getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Arthur Nolan hit a great ball. In the 78th minute, Bryce Kaine got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Featon in the 85th minute of play forced Northcote's goalkeeper Edwards Lyle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Garema's Rusty Spurr played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jagger Krause in the 88th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Garema's Edgar Featon slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Edwards Lyle. That made the score 3-3 after 90 minutes of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
