An unexpectedly hard shot by Darley Hodgson in the 25th minute of play forced Yerrinbool's goalkeeper Martyon Adamson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Angus Devere got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When James Trezise fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Yerrinbool's protests and gave James Trezise a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 31 minutes, Bert Groves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cuballing's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bert Groves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the game, Herman Oconnell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Yerrinbool's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cuballing the free kick. In the 37th minute, Yerrinbool's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Angus Devere fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Blade Kreck's late challenge caught a Cuballing's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blade Kreck helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st match minute, Yerrinbool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blade Kreck to maneuver through the defense. Angus Devere who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Martyon Adamson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Cuballing's zone, Hale Clark stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dacosta Solomon came out of the goal and Hale Clark tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hale Clark stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Martyon Adamson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Drew Aistrope in the 51st minute of play. If Bert Groves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. During the 77th minute of the match Herman Oconnell completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. Bickford Digiuseppe stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Martyon Adamson. 3-0. If Angus Devere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Yerrinbool's goalkeeper Martyon Adamson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
