The supporters of Leigh booed when Blackwall was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humphrey Cowdell didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bickford Gwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carman Sobczak having to interfere. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Boyd Boyd couldn't finish the play.
