Thanks to some nice moves Edwin Mewburn could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Oliver Millar however easily saved by the left post. Otto Durbridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duffield Slattery in the 40th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Darley Crane ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Otto Durbridge was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Notley in the 46th minute of play forced Toonpan's goalkeeper Oliver Millar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Toonpan's Duffield Slattery got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Cornelius Withy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Toonpan's Russell Dale got a free kick in the 60th minute. Oliver Millar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Notley, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute.
