Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kirk Oreilly took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Doyle Newton. Doyle Newton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Pete Carbery had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the match, Bryan Favas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Doyle Cusbert, 1-1. After 26 played minutes, Ellam's Dakota Day shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Doyle Cusbert came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ellam reached it. After 28 minutes of play, Ellam's Bryan Favas made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Doyle Cusbert was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Kirk Oreilly fell near the penalty area in the 48th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bankstown's protests and gave Kirk Oreilly a yellow card for diving instead. Kirk Oreilly hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Larry Crampton to strike the kick off in the second half. If Kirk Oreilly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 63 played minutes, Ellam's Allen Park shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Doyle Cusbert came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ellam reached it. With a little luck, Ellam's Doyle Newton got control of the ball when Kirk Oreilly tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 73rd minute Larry Crampton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doyle Cusbert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Bankstown's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Favas came free, but Doyle Cusbert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doyle Cusbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Soekirno in the 76th minute of play. In the 84th match minute, Ellam was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryan Favas to maneuver through the defense. Pete Carbery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doyle Newton having to interfere. Hal Norman charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hal Norman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Hal Norman kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Ellam's goalkeeper Doyle Newton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pete Carbery. After 96 played minutes Ellam got a freekick which was hit by Larry Crampton. When the referee blew the final whistle, Ellam could leave the field as winners, despite Bankstown having more of the ball for most of the match.
