The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Edvīns van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Güvenç Altunç in the 5th minute of play. Erikas Mikoliūnas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kris Chamberlain, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of FC COSA NOSTRA booed when FC Alytus United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Deividas Mencendorfs didn't get a good kick on the ball. 12 minutes into the match, FC COSA NOSTRA's goal looked a bit too open when Kris Chamberlain came free, but Erikas Mikoliūnas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edvīns van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artūras Ronaldo, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Artūras Ronaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Artūras Ronaldo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edvīns van der Sar was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After a rather tough play, FC Alytus United's Daavid Šembera got a free kick in the 26th minute. If Artūras Ronaldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vilmer Röd hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Edvīns van der Sar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Güvenç Altunç's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Güvenç Altunç in the 45th minute of play forced FC Alytus United's goalkeeper Edvīns van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Jarūnas Kuliešius kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Yu Guo Cheng hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Erikas Mikoliūnas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romualdas Motiekaitis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC COSA NOSTRA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Kris Chamberlain was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Alytus United's players had a chance to rest. Artūras Ronaldo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edvīns van der Sar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 96 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Zhou Zhan Liang sped through FC Alytus United's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edvīns van der Sar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched FC COSA NOSTRA eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
