Savage Hippo's Edwin Grabert was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 9th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. A collision led to UNITED Kaunas getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Aistis Žilevičius hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundas Šernas in the 16th minute of play forced Savage Hippo's goalkeeper Bengt-Arne Askstedt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edwin Grabert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Raimondas Kuodys made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Edwin Grabert took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Raimondas Kuodys to make any attempt to save it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edwin Grabert got free with Raimondas Kuodys in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The corner led Savage Hippo's Edwin Grabert to fire away a dangerous shot which Raimondas Kuodys despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Savage Hippo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Eddie Bjurström in the 31st minute. In the 43rdth minute of the game Edwin Grabert who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UNITED Kaunas's Raimondas Kuodys was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, UNITED Kaunas's Raimondas Kuodys got control of the ball when Edwin Grabert tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Savage Hippo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edwin Grabert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th minute, Edwin Grabert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Kastytis Norkūnas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. UNITED Kaunas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Savage Hippo the free kick. Kastytis Norkūnas hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Edwin Grabert's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Raimondas Kuodys was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddie Bjurström couldn't finish the play. Savage Hippo's Edwin Grabert got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Savage Hippo's Bengt-Arne Askstedt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Savage Hippo from getting a goal against them. There was no doubt that Savage Hippo were the better team. Savage Hippo's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
