Palmares Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Roneros F.C. the free kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joãozinho Pernambucano in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Asensio Berzosa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Palmares Futebol Clube booed when Roneros F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geovanny Fuertehijar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute Cipriano Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Asensio Berzosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hernando Vilaprenyo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonardo Paz having to interfere. In the 20th minute Gonzalo Barja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Paz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Asensio Berzosa managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when Palmares Futebol Clube's Joãozinho Pernambucano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 27 minutes into the match, Ismael Secco dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Asensio Berzosa, 1-0. If Hernando Vilaprenyo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joãozinho Pernambucano took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Asensio Berzosa. Asensio Berzosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Guillermo Colon made a kick off. 59 minutes into the game, Palmares Futebol Clube's Cafu Donato nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Asensio Berzosa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Leonardo Paz made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Hernando Vilaprenyo sent off a good shot on target. After 77 minutes, Ricardo Barreto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palmares Futebol Clube and the Roneros F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Javier Gandarias got free with Leonardo Paz in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Roneros F.C. booed when Palmares Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurinho Peres didn't get a good kick on the ball.
