Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Rubén Litago started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. A collision led to U21 Spain getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia hit a great ball. The supporters of U21 Bulgaria booed when U21 Spain was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Carmona didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Rubén Litago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, U21 Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Toncho Baylov came free, but Gustavo Taules reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 17 minutes, Yonko Devendzhiev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Bulgaria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Yonko Devendzhiev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Bulgaria's goalkeeper Nikolay Bonkov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gustavo Taules took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toncho Baylov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robert Levandowsky received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Gustavo Taules tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, U21 Spain's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Levandowsky came free, but Gustavo Taules reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robert Levandowsky in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gustavo Taules prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, U21 Bulgaria's Nikolay Bonkov got control of the ball when Rubén Litago tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Levandowsky in the 40th minute of play forced U21 Spain's goalkeeper Gustavo Taules to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 41 played minutes U21 Bulgaria got a freekick which was hit by Dragolyub Pastirov. Dragolyub Pastirov kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Gustavo Taules came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Bulgaria's Yonko Devendzhiev. But to his dismay, Yonko Devendzhiev quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
With a little luck, U21 Spain's Gustavo Taules got control of the ball when Toncho Baylov tried to sneak it across the goal line. Toncho Baylov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Gustavo Taules made a huge save. U21 Spain's Gustavo Taules played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Levandowsky in the 68th minute of play. In the 71st minute of the match U21 Bulgaria got a corner. U21 Spain's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Georgi Vangelov ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Dragolyub Pastirov got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gustavo Taules quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Nikolay Bonkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zacarías March, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. C.J. La Marca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikolay Bonkov having to interfere. U21 Bulgaria's Vaklin Dobrinski was substituted for Yonko Devendzhiev. The audience thought a goal was coming when Toncho Baylov got free with Gustavo Taules in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Toncho Baylov fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Bulgaria's protests and gave Toncho Baylov a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th minute, Toncho Baylov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 92 minutes into the game, C.J. La Marca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Nikolay Bonkov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. U21 Bulgaria's Svetlozar Chukovski was substituted for Toncho Baylov. The U21 Spain players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
