Clemente Arias made in the 20th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Dominican Republic's Emilio Rael. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Dominican Republic's goalkeeper Conrado Serna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 23rd minute Bruno Melillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Armani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Conrado Serna made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Clemente Arias sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Dominican Republic's Bruno Melillo got a free kick in the 41st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evaristo Allende during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Arias got free with Conrado Serna in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Aldo-Pedro Poy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Armani having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Dominican Republic's Chus Avilés got a free kick in the 56th minute. Robustiano Tab kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. A collision led to Argentina getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Robustiano Tab hit a great ball. When Aldo-Pedro Poy came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Dominican Republic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aldo-Pedro Poy couldn't finish the play. Dominican Republic's Conrado Serna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Pabla in the 68th minute of play. After some careless play in the Dominican Republic defense, Simon Prejun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conrado Serna. The Dominican Republic fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conrado Serna should have stopped the shot. Argentina made a substitution. Benito Mikelats replaced Clemente Arias. In the 84th minute, Dominican Republic's Winston Méndez ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Armando Armani. Armando Armani yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. In the 87th match minute, Dominican Republic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Evaristo Allende to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 90 minutes, Daniel Pabla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Argentina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Pabla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Armando Armani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Costa in the 97th minute of the match.
