With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernardo Arias prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernardo Arias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yerko Gold, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. U21 Chile's attentive Nazario Huici managed to snatch the ball when Alfonso Mena made a throw-in in the 14th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Leopoldo Kamakiri got a free kick in the 19th minute. If Yerko Gold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Bernardo Arias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Leopoldo Kamakiri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tobías Aliaga got free with Bernardo Arias in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Yerko Gold made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfonso Mejias got free with Saka Goleš in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Cortez got a throw-in 56 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Vinicio Medina. Alfonso Mena's late challenge caught a U21 Chile's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfonso Mena helped the player get up and apologised. Alfonso Mena kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. U21 Chile's Guillermo Velarde got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. U21 Chile's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
