U21 Brazil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xandão Crouch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Xandão Crouch in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivan Krile prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Norberto Heerdt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mislav Oršić in the 18th minute of play. Ivan Krile made an important save on a dangerous shot by Xandão Crouch in the 24th minute. U21 Brazil's attentive Cai Otto managed to snatch the ball when Bo Nesta made a throw-in in the 29th minute of the game. U21 Brazil's Norberto Heerdt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bo Cantona in the 30th minute of play. André Piø sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Xandão Crouch reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ivan Krile. The goal made the score 2-0. Ivan Krile was a little too slow when André Piø got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 44th minute. The score was now 3-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Xandão Crouch managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Brazil's supporters rose to their feet, but Xandão Crouch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Krile breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Croatia's Bo Ibrahimović was substituted for Franjo Fabijanić. U21 Brazil made a substitution. André Luís Zanette replaced Xandão Crouch. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bo Cantona was the one to do the kick off. But to his dismay, André Luís Zanette quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. When Toni Mačković came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the U21 Croatia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toni Mačković couldn't finish the play. For all the effort they put into the match, the U21 Croatia players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for U21 Brazil.
