The U21 Argentina fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 14th minute, Máximo Perrone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guaberto Valiente in the 15th minute of play forced U21 Guatemala's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, U21 Guatemala's Hector Ventura got a free kick in the 16th minute. U21 Guatemala's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Cipriano Laffitte scored to the left of an out of position Nery Pumpido, making the score, 3-0. The supporters of U21 Argentina booed when U21 Guatemala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Villanueva didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, U21 Guatemala's goal looked a bit too open when Octavio Bianchi came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guaberto Valiente recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 42 minutes of play, U21 Argentina's Guaberto Valiente made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nery Pumpido was left in no man's land by his defense there!

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Guaberto Valiente stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sebastián Junes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Camps, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Hector Ventura's late challenge caught a U21 Argentina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hector Ventura helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 Guatemala getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Hector Ventura hit a great ball. In the 80th minute of the match U21 Argentina got a corner. U21 Guatemala's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. U21 Argentina's Eusebio Cordarius was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nery Pumpido in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, U21 Argentina's Léon Goretzka got a free kick in the 89th minute. 91 minutes into the match, U21 Argentina's goalkeeper Sebastián Junes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Heriberto Correa. In the 94th match minute, U21 Argentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonzalo Martínez to maneuver through the defense. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. U21 Argentina fully deserved thier win.
