A collision led to U21 Guatemala getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Alonso Vinosis hit a great ball. Alonso Vinosis charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alonso Vinosis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 12th match minute, U21 Guatemala was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alonso Vinosis to maneuver through the defense. In the 15th minute U21 Pakistan were awarded a corner. Masood Mukhtar went to the cornerflag to take it. Usama Moeez made a great header on U21 Pakistan's corner, it was just that U21 Guatemala's Edgar Valenzuela managed to reach the ball for a save. Edgar Valenzuela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inzamam Khan in the 22nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Guatemala's Miguel Henriquez got a free kick in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hassan Shan in the 24th minute of play forced U21 Guatemala's goalkeeper Edgar Valenzuela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Trotta was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Guatemala's players had a chance to rest. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Inzamam Khan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edgar Valenzuela read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. U21 Pakistan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Omar Asad was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 70 played minutes U21 Guatemala got a freekick which was hit by Sarbelio Lovo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Omar Asad in the 75th minute of play forced U21 Pakistan's goalkeeper Nadir Tabeer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 78 minutes into the game, Inzamam Khan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edgar Valenzuela. Inzamam Khan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Guatemala's zone, Hanif Muneer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Valenzuela came out of the goal and Hanif Muneer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 82 minutes, Sohaib Lateef mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Pakistan and the U21 Guatemala players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 82nd match minute, U21 Pakistan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sohaib Lateef to maneuver through the defense. Nadir Tabeer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Omar Asad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sarbelio Lovo got his second yellow card in the match during the 89th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to U21 Guatemala getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Sarbelio Lovo hit a great ball. After having played for 93 minutes, Omar Asad managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Guatemala's supporters crossed their fingers, but Omar Asad was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
