After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Aloísio Schmidt got a free kick in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goalkeeper Evaristo Neves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duncan Hatfield. In the 43rd match minute, U21 Brazil was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Oliveira to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fernandão Lopes made a kick off.
