U21 Canada's Graig Ho got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 4 minutes into the match, U21 Canada's goal looked a bit too open when Timofey Lapitskiy came free, but Modestine Inman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, U21 Russia's Yaroslav Lyzhenkov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Modestine Inman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. U21 Russia were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after U21 Canada's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ruslan Volochkov took the corner. The supporters of U21 Russia booed when U21 Canada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cornelius Ritchie didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 14th minute of the match Mikhail Bantysh sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Modestine Inman skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to U21 Russia getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ruslan Volochkov hit a great ball. After 16 played minutes, U21 Canada's Timothy Cohen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Artur Romanov came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Canada reached it. Modestine Inman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timofey Lapitskiy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timofey Lapitskiy in the 19th minute of play forced U21 Canada's goalkeeper Modestine Inman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, U21 Canada's Elwood Sykes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Artur Romanov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Elwood Sykes recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Artur Romanov. In the 33rd minute Timofey Lapitskiy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Modestine Inman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 39 minutes, Andrey Zhdanov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Russia and the U21 Canada players grew even worse after the yellow card. U21 Canada's Modestine Inman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mikhail Bantysh in the 44th minute of play.
