Abdi Mehmet Hürkan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Santiago Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ricardo Cordoba kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. The long shot by Abdi Mehmet Hürkan in the 26th minute really tested Santiago Torres's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 33 minutes of play, Turkey's Afşin Tengizalp made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Santiago Torres was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 35th minute of the match, Afşin Tengizalp tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Santiago Torres saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Afşin Tengizalp in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Santiago Torres saved Ecuador from getting behind. After having played for 37 minutes, Ximenez Gort managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ximenez Gort was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 39 played minutes Barış Altunışık rounded Ecuador's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-0. Uğurcan Çakır stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Villagra Gene's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. If Ximenez Gort had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Ecuador made a substitution. Fidel Balladares replaced Villagra Gene. Ecuador's Santiago Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barış Altunışık in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th minute Ximenez Gort shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uğurcan Çakır saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Refik Halit Erokay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santiago Torres. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santiago Torres should have stopped the shot. Santiago Torres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Başar Onur, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. When Rasık Vural fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Turkey's protests and gave Rasık Vural a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Turkey fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! Vincent Vango made in the 91st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tercero Vital. 92 minutes into the game, Refik Halit Erokay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Santiago Torres was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 95 minutes into the match, Luís Fernando Cadena notched a goal, 5-2, to the right of Turkey's Uğurcan Çakır. Uğurcan Çakır was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 98th minute, Refik Halit Erokay left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Turkey fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Turkey fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
