U21 Argentina's Albino Criston quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, U21 France's William Vasquez got a free kick in the 5th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonin Dagorne in the 8th minute of play forced U21 Argentina's goalkeeper J.J J.J. to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 France's Antonin Dagorne managed to work through U21 Argentina's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Antonin Dagorne dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. When Edgard Dalmu came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the U21 Argentina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgard Dalmu couldn't finish the play. A collision led to U21 France getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Alain Roche hit a great ball. After 18 minutes U21 France's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Albino Criston who took care of the corner kick. The corner led U21 Argentina's Albino Criston to fire away a dangerous shot which Bruno Martini despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Dalmu in the 21st minute of play forced U21 France's goalkeeper Bruno Martini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Argentina getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Diego Piro hit a great ball. Rémi Jacquet struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. J.J J.J. didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 France. Bruno Martini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauricio Fonda in the 30th minute of play. J.J J.J. took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonin Dagorne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd minute U21 France were awarded a corner. Ahmid Guillaumet went to the cornerflag to take it. U21 France's Robert Pirès was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but J.J J.J. in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 35th match minute, U21 France was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rémi Jacquet to maneuver through the defense. After 37 minutes of play, U21 Argentina's Edgard Dalmu made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bruno Martini was left in no man's land by his defense there! J.J J.J. showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonin Dagorne, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. U21 Argentina's J.J J.J. played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonin Dagorne in the 42nd minute of play. U21 France's Ferdinand Linossier was substituted for Rémi Jacquet. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Argentina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ahmid Guillaumet was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 France's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Ahmid Guillaumet almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Argentina's J.J J.J. did a great save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antonin Dagorne got free with J.J J.J. in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half U21 Argentina were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

U21 France's Harold Combettes was substituted for Antonin Dagorne. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Robert Pirès made a kick off. Lamine Lassaigne hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute of the match U21 Argentina got a corner. U21 France's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Albino Criston ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Urbano Arlo heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. U21 France made a substitution. Hassan Châtelard replaced Réda Caillault. 61 minutes into the match, Robert Pirès had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of J.J J.J.. U21 Argentina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robert Pirès was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. J.J J.J. showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Pirès in the 64th minute of the match. U21 Argentina's J.J J.J. played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Pirès in the 68th minute of play. J.J J.J. showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harold Combettes in the 72nd minute of the match. U21 Argentina's Loco Palermo was substituted for Edgard Dalmu. J.J J.J. made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Pirès in the 77th minute of play. J.J J.J. stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Pirès's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. The supporters of U21 France booed when U21 Argentina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mauro Blasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. J.J J.J. made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Pirès in the 80th minute of play. Ahmid Guillaumet made a great header on U21 France's corner, it was just that U21 Argentina's J.J J.J. managed to reach the ball for a save. J.J J.J. showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Pirès in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 89 minutes, Loco Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Argentina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loco Palermo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bruno Martini was a little too slow when Loco Palermo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 1-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. U21 Argentina had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
