U21 Colombia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rosalio Rescuro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vladislav Orahovac made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rosalio Rescuro in the 26th minute of play. In the 40th minute Charlie Harper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladislav Orahovac saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 42 played minutes U21 Serbia got a freekick which was hit by Borisav Ćuzović. Charlie Harper struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Vladislav Orahovac didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Colombia. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

U21 Colombia's Alex Sandóval was substituted for Silvanito Gainza. Marcos Chavez came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Serbia's Dragan Džajić. But to his dismay, Dragan Džajić quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Marcos Chavez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stevica Tomanić in the 63rd minute of play. After 64 played minutes U21 Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Gaitan Gabriel. U21 Serbia's Tatomir Radišić couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 65th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for U21 Colombia. A collision led to U21 Serbia getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Milo Lazarević hit a great ball. With his leg Vladislav Orahovac managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when U21 Colombia's Alex Sandóval fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Marcos Chavez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Melentije Borić, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Isidor Rius's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 80thth minute, Vladislav Orahovac skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. A collision led to U21 Colombia getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Isidor Rius hit a great ball. In the 88th minute, Ricardo Trigueros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marcos Chavez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Melentije Borić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alex Sandóval fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vladislav Orahovac having to interfere. After a rather tough play, U21 Serbia's Darko Pančev got a free kick in the 97th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
