U21 Denmark's Kasper Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Beard in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peder Sarstedt in the 13th minute of play forced U21 United States's goalkeeper Lewis Calloway to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 United States's Lewis Calloway played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anders Dannervig in the 16th minute of play. Runar Climur stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lewis Calloway. 0-1. Jeff Davila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Kasper Schmeichel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lewis Calloway showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ejvind Farrington, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 37 minutes into the match, Anders Dannervig notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of U21 United States's Lewis Calloway. Lewis Calloway was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 40 minutes into the game, Peder Sarstedt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 United States's Jeff Davila slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kasper Schmeichel. That made the score 1-3 after 47 minutes of play.
The wind increased when Anders Dannervig made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goal looked a bit too open when Peder Sarstedt came free, but Lewis Calloway reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 54th minute of the match, Anders Dannervig tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lewis Calloway saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 55th minute, Sigfried Kastrupsen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute of the match Gabriel Rossi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kasper Schmeichel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the game, Jeff Davila cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Kasper Schmeichel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. U21 United States's Guillermo McDaniel was substituted for William Kerns. U21 Denmark's Young Houdini was substituted for Ambrosius Bøievig. U21 United States's Lewis Calloway proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save U21 United States from getting a goal against them. In the 73rd minute Gerardo Beard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kasper Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Darío Campos's late challenge caught a U21 Denmark's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darío Campos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to U21 United States getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Darío Campos hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Peder Sarstedt managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Denmark's supporters rose to their feet, but Peder Sarstedt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lewis Calloway breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 77 minutes into the game, U21 Denmark's Anders Dannervig nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lewis Calloway made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. U21 United States's Lewis Calloway proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save U21 United States from getting a goal against them. Anders Dannervig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Lewis Calloway made a huge save.
