The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduard Grdović got free with Mihály Szegedi in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

U21 Hungary's Milán Seres was substituted for Zsigmond Ambrus. The crowd rose to their feet as Szilárd Keresztes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Danijel Berislavić. That made the score 3-3 in the 83 minute of play. Roland Vásárhelyi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Danijel Berislavić tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
