U21 Scotland's Jim Dove played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boruc Kalemba in the 3rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexander McCuag in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tanio Dajka prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Alexander McCuag put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Tanio Dajka. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zbigniew Rydz in the 8th minute of play forced U21 Scotland's goalkeeper Jim Dove to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 14 minutes into the match, U21 Poland's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Martin came free, but Tanio Dajka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of U21 Poland booed when U21 Scotland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander McCuag didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, U21 Poland's Boruc Kalemba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jim Dove narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Konrad Kazimierz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Jim Dove tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Scotland's zone, Korneliusz Dyczkowski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jim Dove came out of the goal and Korneliusz Dyczkowski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Boruc Kalemba fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Poland's protests and gave Boruc Kalemba a yellow card for diving instead. In the 34th minute of the match Alexander McCuag sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tanio Dajka skillfully saved the ball. Tanio Dajka was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tony Martin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 35 minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Zbigniew Rydz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jim Dove. U21 Scotland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zbigniew Rydz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zbigniew Rydz stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jim Dove made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Korneliusz Dyczkowski in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th minute, Kamil Glik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, U21 Poland's Kamil Glik got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 58th minute of the match Ricky Morgan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tanio Dajka skillfully saved the ball. In the 60th minute Korneliusz Dyczkowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jim Dove saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The U21 Poland fans' excitement grew in the 62nd match minute when U21 Poland's Zbigniew Rydz looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 66 minutes into the match, Korneliusz Dyczkowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jim Dove. U21 Scotland's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Korneliusz Dyczkowski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricky Morgan in the 72nd minute of play forced U21 Poland's goalkeeper Tanio Dajka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jim Dove made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Korneliusz Dyczkowski in the 74th minute of play. 74 minutes into the game, U21 Poland's Korneliusz Dyczkowski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jim Dove made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. Tony Martin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Cyprian Zagrodny hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. If Napoleon Pryla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tony Martin struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Tanio Dajka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Scotland.
The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Poland eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
