Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Aznaro Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrien Amrein in the 64th minute of the match. U21 Spain made a substitution. Eskuin Gonzáles replaced Álvaro Osans. U21 Spain's D.J. Mus was substituted for Miloslav Klose. After 70 played minutes U21 Spain got a freekick which was hit by Gonsalvo Silva. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 Switzerland's goalkeeper Stephan Helmholz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. U21 Spain were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after U21 Switzerland's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luis Saez took the corner. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Neil Haas helped the player get up and apologised. 93 minutes into the match, U21 Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when D.J. Mus came free, but Stephan Helmholz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stephan Helmholz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eskuin Gonzáles in the 94th minute of play. The U21 Switzerland fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. U21 Spain were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
