After a rather tough play, U21 Honduras's Elias Villatoro got a free kick in the 38th minute. U21 Honduras's defense didn't have a chance, in the 39th minute, when Ismael Isaio scored to the left of an out of position Will Molina, making the score, 1-0. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Reynaldo Lluques successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Will Molina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erubiel Damario in the 55th minute of play. If Felipe Guerrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 played minutes U21 Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Araujo. Will Molina showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erubiel Damario, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute, Serafino Chico hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Mexico made a substitution. Clemente Urtungo replaced Jeremias Harkaitz. Reynaldo Lluques yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. After having played for 78 minutes, Gilberto Pineda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilberto Pineda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reynaldo Lluques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Guerrero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The shot was a little too simple and Reynaldo Lluques could save by the left post. 82 minutes into the match, U21 Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Dennys Botello came free, but Reynaldo Lluques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to U21 Mexico getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Eduardo Cisneros hit a great ball. U21 Honduras made a substitution. Augusto Flamenco replaced Gilberto Pineda. In the 88th minute, Eduardo Cisneros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 89 minutes of play U21 Honduras's Felipe Guerrero was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Augusto Flamenco charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
