Säftär Cämilov struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Jo Rundell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Azerbaijan. Senegal's Jo Rundell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abduläziz Kärimov in the 12th minute of play. Bäşir Äzimbäyli's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Jo Rundell skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 14th minute Azerbaijan were awarded a corner. Säftär Cämilov went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Azerbaijan's corner Säftär Cämilov fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jo Rundell quite easily take care of the ball. Abduläziz Kärimov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Jo Rundell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ronan Woodward came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Senegal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronan Woodward couldn't finish the play. Ronan Woodward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bäşir Äzimbäylis short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Jo Rundell to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Salam Ocaqverdiyev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Jo Rundell made a huge save. Senegal's Jo Rundell proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Senegal from getting a goal against them. 29 minutes into the match, Senegal's goal looked a bit too open when Abduläziz Kärimov came free, but Jo Rundell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Länkäran Äbdüläzimov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronan Woodward, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Jo Rundell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bäşir Äzimbäyli in the 33rd minute of the match. With his leg Jo Rundell managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Azerbaijan's Bäşir Äzimbäyli fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jo Rundell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bäşir Äzimbäyli in the 43rd minute of the match. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by Senegal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Säftär Cämilov was slow to take the kick. During this time Azerbaijan's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Azerbaijan's corner Säftär Cämilov fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jo Rundell quite easily take care of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bäşir Äzimbäyli in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jo Rundell prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Senegal's Curtis Ruddock got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Abduläziz Kärimov took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jo Rundell. Jo Rundell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Jo Rundell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bäşir Äzimbäyli's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. In the 78thth minute of the game Bäşir Äzimbäyli who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Senegal's Jo Rundell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jo Rundell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Salam Ocaqverdiyev in the 81st minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Bäşir Äzimbäyli got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Azerbaijan fans' excitement grew in the 86th match minute when Azerbaijan's Bäşir Äzimbäyli looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Senegal's zone, Bäşir Äzimbäyli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jo Rundell came out of the goal and Bäşir Äzimbäyli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bäşir Äzimbäyli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dacio Traoré's late challenge caught a Azerbaijan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dacio Traoré helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Azerbaijan booed when Senegal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dacio Traoré didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute of the match Säftär Cämilov shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jo Rundell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Azerbaijan had played much better football throughout.
