Margarito Bouchard hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Omar Witt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Margarito Bouchard in the 13th minute of the match. In the 16th minute U21 Canada were awarded a corner. Mané Garrincha went to the cornerflag to take it. Kareem Yarbrough made a great header on U21 Canada's corner, it was just that U21 United States's Omar Witt managed to reach the ball for a save. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 United States's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mané Garrincha was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Canada's players had a chance to rest. Mané Garrincha made a great header on U21 Canada's corner, it was just that U21 United States's Omar Witt managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tory Burnham in the 23rd minute of play forced U21 Canada's goalkeeper Zack Dwyer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of U21 United States booed when U21 Canada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Margarito Bouchard didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Margarito Bouchard put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Omar Witt. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Canada's zone, Tory Burnham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zack Dwyer came out of the goal and Tory Burnham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 42nd match minute, U21 Canada was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgil Van Dijck to maneuver through the defense. Zack Dwyer made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Malcolm Hester sent off a good shot on target. Tory Burnham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Zack Dwyer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leif Giles to strike the kick off in the second half. Rich Miner hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The supporters of U21 Canada booed when U21 United States was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rich Miner didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Canada's Zack Dwyer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tory Burnham in the 61st minute of play. In the 64th minute of the match U21 United States got a corner. U21 Canada's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ernesto Sanders ran over to the corner to take the kick. Zack Dwyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Boyle in the 66th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leif Giles in the 68th minute of play forced U21 United States's goalkeeper Omar Witt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Canada getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Reinaldo Bourdette hit a great ball. Leif Giles blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Omar Witt having to make a save. Leif Giles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zack Dwyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Boyle in the 78th minute of play. After 79 minutes U21 Canada's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ernesto Sanders who took care of the corner kick. U21 United States's Ernesto Sanders was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zack Dwyer in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Omar Witt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Krystian Żmuda in the 81st minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Dexter Penn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Omar Witt managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when U21 Canada's Krystian Żmuda fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jack Kazík hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. 93 minutes into the match, U21 United States's goal looked a bit too open when Leif Giles came free, but Omar Witt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 94 minutes into the game, Leif Giles recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Omar Witt. Leif Giles showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. In the 97th minute Macho Tu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zack Dwyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
