The corner ended in Leonidas Panou almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Cyprus's Thanasis Mousa did a great save. Nestoras Papastavrou showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salmakis Antoniadis, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Nicolás Martínez struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Thanasis Mousa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Greece. U21 Greece's Nestoras Papastavrou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salmakis Antoniadis in the 11th minute of play. Thanasis Mousa came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Greece's Christos Savvidis. But to his dismay, Christos Savvidis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. U21 Cyprus were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after U21 Greece's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sokratis Sardelis took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Leukothoe Kaladosis heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Leonidas Panou kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Leukothoe Kaladosis got in the 23rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Nestoras Papastavrou handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When U21 Cyprus's Leukothoe Kaladosis in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Greece's goalie prevented a goal. Sokratis Sardelis's late challenge caught a U21 Greece's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sokratis Sardelis helped the player get up and apologised. Sokratis Sardelis hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute of the match Leonidas Panou shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thanasis Mousa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanasis Kolitsidakis made in the 30th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U21 Cyprus's Anestis Kaglantge. In the 31st match minute, U21 Cyprus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anestis Kaglantge to maneuver through the defense. After 32 played minutes, U21 Greece's Leonidas Panou shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Thanasis Mousa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in U21 Greece reached it. U21 Cyprus's Anestis Kaglantge quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Thanasis Kolitsidakis, made in the 35th minute of the game. Salmakis Antoniadis received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nestoras Papastavrou came out and tried to block the shot, but Salmakis Antoniadis slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 36th minute. Nestoras Papastavrou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salmakis Antoniadis in the 43rd minute of play. In the 44th minute Salmakis Antoniadis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestoras Papastavrou saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salmakis Antoniadis was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolás Martínez in the 57th minute of play forced U21 Cyprus's goalkeeper Thanasis Mousa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 59th minute, Christos Savvidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Cyprus's Patroklos Melissinos was substituted for Leukothoe Kaladosis. In the 62nd minute, Sokratis Sardelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nestoras Papastavrou made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Salmakis Antoniadis in the 65th minute of play. Salmakis Antoniadis kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. U21 Greece's Nestoras Papastavrou played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salmakis Antoniadis in the 72nd minute of play. After 72 minutes of play, U21 Cyprus's Salmakis Antoniadis made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nestoras Papastavrou was left in no man's land by his defense there! Patroklos Melissinos scored 4-1 in the 78th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nestoras Papastavrou, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanasis Kolitsidakis got a throw-in 81 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Leonidas Panou. Thanasis Mousa made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Fragiskos Theofilou sent off a good shot on target. U21 Cyprus's Thanasis Mousa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Cyprus from getting a goal against them.
