Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jordi Novajas took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 12thth minute of the game Emanuel Neto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Chile's Maximino Bertrand was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Maximino Bertrand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Vela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the U21 Chile defense, Fabricio Aureo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Maximino Bertrand. The U21 Chile fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Maximino Bertrand should have stopped the shot. U21 Chile's Maximino Bertrand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emanuel Neto in the 23rd minute of play. Fidel Enol made in the 27th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Francisco Murillo. Maximino Bertrand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angel Mena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34thth minute of the game Carlos Vela who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Chile's Maximino Bertrand was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Higinio Ackermann fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Chile's protests and gave Higinio Ackermann a yellow card for diving instead. U21 Mexico's Omar Eyague got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jordi Novajas scored 1-1 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alberto Gergori, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
U21 Chile made a substitution. Rashid Samir replaced Remigio Fierro. U21 Chile's Benjamín Riera was substituted for Jordi Novajas. The wind increased when Carlos Vela made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Chile's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Omar Eyague was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Mexico's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of U21 Chile's goalie and right to Julian Maureo. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. U21 Chile's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamín Riera in the 57th minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Alberto Gergori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute, Benjamín Riera made a precise shot to the right of Alberto Gergori. U21 Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Alberto Gergori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benjamín Riera in the 70th minute of the match. Francisco Murillo kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. U21 Chile made a substitution. Donato Beca replaced Mauricio Boll. After a rather tough play, U21 Mexico's Francisco Murillo got a free kick in the 71st minute. When U21 Chile's Benjamín Riera in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. Alberto Gergori stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benjamín Riera's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Vergaray Azteca's late challenge caught a U21 Chile's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vergaray Azteca helped the player get up and apologised. Vergaray Azteca kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Maximino Bertrand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mohamed Bale in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th match minute, U21 Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Beca to maneuver through the defense. When Guillermo Mac Iver fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Chile's protests and gave Guillermo Mac Iver a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of U21 Mexico booed when U21 Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mac Iver didn't get a good kick on the ball. U21 Mexico's Omar Eyague shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 90th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Maximino Bertrand but with some difficulty. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Chile fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 Mexico had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
