MZ Country's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Mouloud Doutté didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Correia went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 29 minutes into the match, MZ Country's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Martins came free, but Mouloud Doutté reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portugal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Hakim Harkat scored to the left of an out of position André Porto, making the score, 2-1. When Hakim Harkat came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the MZ Country fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hakim Harkat couldn't finish the play. With an all-out effort, MZ Country's André Porto threw himself towards the right post 34 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Abdelhamid Boulebda, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 35 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper André Porto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Salim Brahami. In the 42nd minute José Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mouloud Doutté saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The MZ Country fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when MZ Country's Abdelhamid Boulebda looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ahmed Akrour stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
