Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Trostan Hafsteinsson made the kick off which started today's match. Nicholas Magadap didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Trostan Hafsteinsson went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Wilhelm Ófeigsson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ed Quinot's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. If Perry Dequilla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Perry Dequilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Frímann Maríasson in the 21st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by U21 Philippines's Jake Libiran. Ed Quinot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilhelm Ófeigsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. In the 25th minute Trostan Hafsteinsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicholas Magadap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Frímann Maríasson put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Nicholas Magadap. Wilhelm Ófeigsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ed Quinot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The U21 Iceland fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when U21 Iceland's Trostan Hafsteinsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The crowd rose to their feet as Ed Quinot kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wilhelm Ófeigsson. That made the score 2-3 in the 35 minute of play. Wilhelm Ófeigsson made a fantastic save in the 40th minute, when Perry Dequilla sent off a good shot on target. Gregoria Lagbas hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ed Quinot in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilhelm Ófeigsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Ed Quinot made the kick off in the second half. If Frímann Maríasson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 53 minutes into the game, U21 Philippines's Ed Quinot nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wilhelm Ófeigsson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-4. Wilhelm Ófeigsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Quinot, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. U21 Philippines's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jake Libiran in the 61st minute. A nice corner shot did that Jake Libiran got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilhelm Ófeigsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 63rd minute Frímann Maríasson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicholas Magadap saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, U21 Iceland's Dvalinn Pétursson got a free kick in the 64th minute. Wilhelm Ófeigsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Libiran in the 65th minute of the match. When Trostan Hafsteinsson came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the U21 Iceland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trostan Hafsteinsson couldn't finish the play. In the 70th minute, Perry Dequilla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilhelm Ófeigsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-4. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frímann Maríasson in the 73rd minute of play forced U21 Philippines's goalkeeper Nicholas Magadap to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ed Quinot in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilhelm Ófeigsson saved U21 Iceland from getting behind. Nicholas Magadap showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trostan Hafsteinsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Nicholas Magadap was a little too slow when Frímann Maríasson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 4-5. When Trostan Hafsteinsson came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the U21 Iceland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trostan Hafsteinsson couldn't finish the play. In the 91st minute, Frímann Maríasson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ed Quinot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched U21 Iceland eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
