The mood of the audience was pleasant when Dennis-Sven Borgmann made the kick off which started today's match. Lütfi Özer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lothar Demski, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Charlie Schiller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 4th minute of the match, but Lütfi Özer made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Charlie Schiller got free with Lütfi Özer in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 6th minute, David Kuntz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Peter Freeh was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. A collision led to Austria getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Meikel Borgloh hit a great ball. Lütfi Özer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charlie Schiller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes into the game, Otfried Lohn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Germany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Austria the free kick. After a rather tough play, Germany's Otfried Lohn got a free kick in the 11th minute. The audience was convinced that Dennis-Sven Borgmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Peter Freeh was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Austria's Lütfi Özer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kjetil Wirths in the 90th minute of play. Hermann Nagel struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Peter Freeh didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Austria. Niklas Therre kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Mark Mäe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Peter Freeh was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. For all the effort they put into the match, the Austria players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Germany.
