The wind increased when Mateo Letica made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mateo Letica in the 52nd minute of play forced Romania's goalkeeper Lucrețiu Apopei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Croatia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Răzvan Negreanu was slow to take the kick. During this time Romania's players had a chance to rest. Vintilă Pârvan made a great header on Romania's corner, it was just that Croatia's Jasmin Đupić managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 96th minute, Traian Ganea made a precise shot to the right of Jasmin Đupić. Croatia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-3. Many of Croatia's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Croatia may have spent more time on the ball, but Romania were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
