Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Asier Higuera received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Reynaldo Paillao came out and tried to block the shot, but Asier Higuera slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 2nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Amuruza Zapatero managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spain's supporters rose to their feet, but Amuruza Zapatero was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reynaldo Paillao breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22nd minute, Alesandro De Smet d`Olbecke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Asier Higuera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Chile's Reynaldo Paillao proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Chile from getting a goal against them. In the 29th minute of the game, Eberardo Arraz landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evaristo Hetz during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Chile's Reynaldo Paillao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Asier Higuera in the 41st minute of play. Koldo Cordoba took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Reynaldo Paillao. Reynaldo Paillao dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. After having played for 55 minutes, Asier Higuera managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Spain's supporters crossed their fingers, but Asier Higuera was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th minute of the match Spain got a corner. Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Koldo Cordoba ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Chile's goalie and right to Asier Higuera. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Chile's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 61st minute Evaristo Hetz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xofre Moreno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Asier Higuera sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 64 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Asier Higuera came free, but Reynaldo Paillao reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xofre Moreno made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Christiano Villouta sent off a good shot on target. Asier Higuera struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Reynaldo Paillao didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Spain. José Alberto Albertz kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Xofre Moreno made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Christiano Villouta sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Alberto Albertz in the 90th minute of play forced Spain's goalkeeper Xofre Moreno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Spain fans cheered their team off the field, for while Chile had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
