The Welsh Election

Matttombstone, Wales’ Simon Cowell speaks of the national elections

So It’s coming close to that joyous time of year, the national elections… where dreams are made, and consequently, dreams destroyed. With current coach Matttombstone, me, hi, not running for a re-election and a fourth year in office, things are thrown wide open and it’s expected to be a close contest between Welsh Kamikaze and Gaber… or is it?

Exit Gaber….

Gaber has recently informed the Welsh premier League of his intentions to sell up at the end of this season. Season 24 may well be Gabers last, but it surely could be his most successful as he’s currently sat on top of the Welsh Premier League. Gaber is not going the way of Lampangfc and Matttombstone, no, in fact he is moving his team over to Slovenia. One of Wales’ finest and most beloved manager, a manager who was one of the favourites to become national manager leaves us in short of two months.

Kamikaze to Kruise?

Welsh Kamikaze longs to get into office

The Kamikaze King of the Welsh Premier League lost out on election by a single uncasted vote last year. It has been said that Tombstone got lucky last year and made connections at the right time, some even suggested Matt making friends purely for the votes. With Matt out of the running this year, and with his main competition defecting to Slovenia, Welsh Kamikaze is surely to run away with this years elections?

Kami has achieved a lot as Hockey National Manager in the little over two months he’s been in office, with an incredible qualification for the 2007 World Cup from a group consisting of Switzerland and Bulgaria. It didn’t come easy though, two losses to Switzerland and a 1-0 loss to Bulgaria left Wales requiring a victory over Bulgaria, 1-0 would do, Wales went on to win 7-4 away from home. This left Wales and Bulgaria equal on points with Wales a superior goal difference, Wales had to sit out of the final game, leaving Bulgaria and Switzerland to face off, Switzerland won 3-0, leaving them as group winners and Wales as runners up of the group.

An incredible short run and first run in an important competition for the country has surely proved Kami Kan do it. One thing’s for certain, out of all the candidates running he is the better known and most successful, proving over the past couple of seasons he’s a contender for the title of King of Wales. With this all backing him up, it’s surely his year to shine?.. Or is it?

Enter… The Brecon Boom!

Can it be? The kids are taking over?!? The Brecon Behemoths may swing things…

Last year, the Brecon Boys, as they are dubbed, influenced the elections heavily, voting for their mentor Matttombstone, which lead to Tombstones third run. This year, with Tombstones absence in the election, will these boys influence the elections yet again? If the answer is yes, the question is how? Will they all vote for Welsh Kamikaze? Or will they decide to help each other? The scary thing is, Wales is over populated with the Boys of Brecon and this could lead to an eventual Brecon take over.

Rhodri Morris, just fifteen years of age, under the alias of rod13 currently leads the infamous Division 1.1, (where such current Premiership legends such as Cardiff City Java Coders, EvertonFC, Darkside DragonZ, AC Xplorer and Cardiff City Lady boys spawned from) with his team, Rods Rockets. This young man has stated he would like a role as national coach, whether that’s assistant or head coach. He has promised hours of work towards the national team and has learnt well from Matttombstone. Could young Rhodri make an upset?

Or how about the young Dane Griffiths? Fourteen years old this month. He is so far the highest of all Brecon Boys, standing at an incredible 6th position in his first Welsh Premier League campaign, three points clear of any relegation zone, a comfortable five points from auto-relegation. His FC Ínnégábílé Cámpíóní, which, translated from Italian, stands for Undeniable Champions could prove to be a strong force in seasons to come. The Brecon Striker may well be able to pull off an upset in the elections and become the national coach, but the question needs to be begged, does he have the time to do it? For you see, currently in the Cardiff City Football Club academy, his contract was recently expanded for two years, meaning he’ll be playing for them up to at least his sixteenth birthday, after that, he’s in the big time. Thus this could take his focus completely off his national coach role, or this could be disastrous to his career as he’ll over focus on the national team and lose his spot in the academy.

He needs to decide what to do, however he could well become a proficient successor to Matttombstone with his vast game experience and being on the receiving end of real coaching, he could well be able to make something happen.

So to conclude this report, we know that Gaber is out of the running, as is Matttombstone, Welsh Kamikaze may well be the favourite yet best choice for the country to succeed Matt. However, with light comes darkness, and what has so far been an incredible improvement for Welsh competition could turn into trouble with the Brecon Bunch who maybe too under experienced to be able to do anything with the team as of yet, however, it could also turn to be a big success for the nation as one of them could become one of the best national coaches for Wales. Whoever the third ever Welsh National Coach is, they have my full backing and support. My vote is my vote and I will choose the best candidate in my eyes, and I hope they have success as national coach.

Best of luck to all those running.

/Matt Tombstone.
