The audience thought a goal was coming when Bryce Conn got free with Mainor Reyes in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A nice corner shot did that Irvin Vindas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Todd Dodge quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Bryce Conn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Cody Arnold left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Costa Rica's Mainor Reyes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Cody Arnold took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Mainor Reyes to make any attempt to save it. Costa Rica's Mainor Reyes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cody Arnold in the 45th minute of play. After 46 minutes, Arturo Brewer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the USA and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Brewer didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The wind increased when Bryce Conn made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Bryce Conn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mainor Reyes came out of the goal and Bryce Conn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rodrigo Cruz fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Rodrigo Cruz a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Rodrigo Cruz hit a great ball. When USA's Bryce Conn in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Bryce Conn kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mainor Reyes. USA's Todd Dodge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Maldonado in the 71st minute of play. After 73 minutes of play, USA's Cody Arnold made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mainor Reyes was left in no man's land by his defense there! USA made a substitution. Stanford Downs replaced Pat Burnham. Costa Rica made a substitution. Bernie Davila replaced Celso Salas. USA made a substitution. Stanley Haines replaced Cody Arnold. Todd Dodge made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Bennie Duran sent off a good shot on target. Bennie Duran received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Todd Dodge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. USA's Todd Dodge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save USA from getting a goal against them. Mainor Reyes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bryce Conn in the 89th minute of the match. Jerry McKay kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.

USA's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
